The Eritrean Community of Toronto filled with determination and patriotism took part in the June 20th commemoration and remembrance of our much loved and respected Martyrs. A walk was organized from the Piccinini community centre to  Wasdsworth park where the formal ceremony took place. Present at the ceremony was Consul Nura Mohammed Omar who delivered a message marking the Martyrs' Day ceremony.
Following the weekly Sunday soccer games by the ECAO (Eritrean Canadian Association of Ontario) and the special Martyrs' Day BBQ by EYAC (Eritrean Youth Association of Canada), a swarm of children dressed in their soccer jerseys led their parents right behind both the Eritrean and Canadian flags respectively carried by two youth dressed in military uniform.
The ceremony was a chance not only for the adults to express their heartfelt poems to the gathered Eritreans, but also for many Eritrean children who were eagerly awaiting the chance to read their beautiful and emotional poems and dedications.
